Day 3 of Fasting and Prayer for Spiritual Renewal

20 "And he got up and came to his father. But while he was still a long way off, his father saw him, and felt compassion for him, and ran and embraced him, and kissed him. 21 "And the son said to him, 'Father, I have sinned against heaven and in your sight; I am no longer worthy to be called your son.' 22 "But the father said to his slaves, 'Quickly bring out the best robe and put it on him, and put a ring on his hand and sandals on his feet; 23 and bring the fattened calf, kill it, and let us eat and be merry; 24 for this son of mine was dead, and has come to life again; he was lost, and has been found.'

Luke 15:20-24 NASB

I have had the wonderful opportunity in my life to restore a lot of things. To take something apart and restore every piece to make it not only look new but also to work like new. God desires to do the same with you if you will allow Him to. Yesterday we talked about the Spiritual war that is going on for your life and the path of destruction it will cause if you let it.

Today is the day to begin a rebuilding

Jesus was laughed at and mocked even on the cross for saying He would rebuild the temple in three days. Those who mocked Him could only see the natural. To be fully restored we need a revelation by God's Holy Spirit. Jesus Christ can fully restore you because He knows what you were like before you were born and through His experience in His life on earth He knows the struggles you face. He has a vision of what you look like fully restored and longs and loves that so much He gave His own life to see that happen.

Are you willing?

Jesus is ready to take every part of you if you are willing and restore it into His image. WHICH IS THE REAL YOU. Your identity in Christ is waiting to shine in this dark world. Jesus Christ went to war with the flesh of man whom He created to create a safe place for you to be healed. (Read Day 2) This is a special and a difficult task. Ask God today to begin the rebuilding phase in your own life by surrendering every thought, emotion and action to Jesus and ask Him to show you the way He sees you fully restored. As you do this God will then ask you to begin to see others the way He sees them. We then can prepare our hearts for action to serve Jesus in helping see others restored.

Are you willing to be trained?

Just as there is training to go to war, there is also training to serve Jesus in helping the restoration process in others. Today I urge you by the grace of God given me to seek out a place of training. Whether God has gifted you to fight on the front lines or to restore others who are wounded in battle the time has come get off of the sidelines and enlist in God's army. There are those who have already answered the call and are at the ready to train and equip you.

Only you can make that move

Day 2 of Fasting and Prayer for Spiritual Renewal

I am amazed at the changes going on in this Country. In World War II, women picked up hammers, welders and other things to work while husbands went off to war. When the war was over they returned home to a hero's welcome. Everyone pulled together and served to keep this great land alive and well. So different today many people do not even act like a war is going on. Some even protest and want to hurt those who have given their lives for our freedom. Recently I was pumping gas in my car and out of the store came a man in army uniform. I waiting till his eyes caught mine and I thanked him for his service to our country. He nodded and walked behind the gas pump to his car. I finished pumping gas and was getting ready to get in my car to leave when suddenly he reappeared around the corner. He came up to me and with a big smile and firm handshake he thanked me for the words of encouragement. He turned and started to walk away but after a few steps stopped and turned around and said. Sir I'm sorry I hesitated by your words but you never know whether a person is saying that truly from their heart or saying it with sarcasm and distain.

As I got into my car with a tear coming down my cheek I begin to think about how many Christians do not even know we are at war. Many times when I have talked about the fact we are at war in our flesh people look at me like I am crazy and even say I am full of sarcasm and distain.

How sad that we as Christians are denying the very power we have to win the war by enjoying the pleasures of this life which drown out the very noise of the battle. Even worse there are bombs dropping all around us every day and its destruction comes from negative thoughts and habits which thwarts God's battle plans, pushes us into business and leads us into despair, discouragement and depression.

"For this reason it says, "Awake, sleeper, and arise from the dead, and Christ will shine on you." Therefore be careful how you walk, not as unwise men, but as wise, making the most of your time, because the days are evil. So then do not be foolish, but understand what the will of the Lord is." Ephesians 5:14-18 NASB

I do not write this because I want to be negative actually just the opposite. God is searching for WAR HEROS like the ones listed in Hebrews 11 and the Apostle Paul write this to Timothy.

"But flee from these things, you man of God; and pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, perseverance and gentleness. Fight the good fight of faith; take hold of the eternal life to which you were called, and you made the good confession in the presence of many witnesses." 1 Timothy 6:11-13 NASB

There are many Bible verses that tell us about a battle that is raging against your mind, will and emotions. The battle happens in your flesh and it's wants you to be in control of everything. When we give control to Jesus Christ the battle becomes even stronger and it is only through surrendering of our mind, will and emotions to the power of the Holy Spirit that we can truly seek God's mind, God's will and God's feeling on the matter. Then when we are obedient to God we overcome our own selfish wants and desires.

The Apostle Paul writes to Timothy and says "Fight the good fight of faith." Today I appeal to you to begin to pray about seeing this battle. Ask God to reveal to you the ways He can help you recognize and overcome in the battle for your mind, will and emotions.

"Take hold of the eternal life to which you were called, and you made the good confession in the presence of many witnesses." What a wonderful thought to "take hold of" it means that you do not run from the battle but run towards it. You are willing as a good solider to know that if you are fighting beside someone else in the same battle you can take possession of an area that was previously possessed by the enemy. An even greater joy is that when you fight this good fight you are creating a safe area for those who are hurt and wounded in battle to come and be revived and healed.

Okay soldier are you ready to enlist and resist? There are those around you who are willing and ready to be heroes of the faith and see victory in this war will you join today. The pay is out of this world so please do not sit idle the Church needs you.

Day 1 of Fasting and Prayer for Spiritual Renewal

"Search me, O God, and know my heart; Try me and know my anxious thoughts; and see if there be any hurtful way in me, and lead me in the everlasting way."

Psalm 139:23-24 NASB

Did you know that the person you are used to living as may not be the real you? I believe many people say they know God but that is as far as they can go. I can say I know someone even though I have never even met them. Knowing God in person comes through prayer and study of His word the Bible. By taking time to pray and study His word God reveals to us more of His character and as we apply that in our lives we are transformed into His image and likeness. As I am transformed which means the thoughts in my mind are changed to His thoughts, my motives in my heart are transformed into service to God and my emotions and feelings are transformed into joy and peace no matter the situation. This transformation brings out the REAL ME the person God originally created me to be.

Each day you have choices to make and those choices can have transforming power of God's Holy Spirit or they can be selfish and laced with no hope.

So today what will your choices be?

I believe that many of us are deceived into thinking we are okay. We are so used to making all the decisions in our lives separate from God. Worse yet we often go through each day not asking God about any decisions so our life with Jesus is not a choice at all. I hear people all the time say things like "I want to lose weight" but they keep eating the same food, "I want to study the Bible" but they keep the same busy schedule giving no time for God, I think the words that cut the deepest to me are "I just want to be loved" yet we keep acting unlovable and keep the same destructive thought patterns about ourselves a true lie from Satan which many believe.

Today I want you to know that you do not have to continue to live this way. Today you can make a choice to give up your pride and selfishness, ask God reveal to you today the thoughts, motives and feelings that are not from Him. Ask for forgiveness and ask Him to teach you His thoughts, feelings and motives. God's thoughts about you are much different then yours are of you. Start today to begin to discover the REAL YOU. Start a regiment of prayer and Bible Study get connected to a Church and learn how to serve others. Begin to praise God ahead of time of what He desires to reveal to you about you. God loves you and cares about you give Him opportunity to transform you into the REAL YOU the person He originally created you to be.
