21 Days of Prayer... day 17
BE ENCOURAGED: to make the best of the time you have today.
"Awake, sleeper, and arise from the dead, and Christ will shine on you. Therefore, be careful how you walk, not as unwise men, but as wise, making the most of your time, because the days are evil." Ephesians 5:14b-16
Time: we all have the same number of hours in each day, we all have to make choices about how we spend it. I think one of the most dangerous things that are in the world around us today is the unawareness of time and its consequences. We would like to think that we can do what we want when we want, and not worry about what is going to be left in the path of our decisions. I would like to encourage you today to begin praying and thinking about how to wisely use your time.
Did you know that not making a choice is making a choice?
This year my wife and I will celebrate 38 years of marriage, now you might say what a milestone, or way to go. Others of you might begin to say you put up with him or her that long! While some memories fade over the years, some are still very fresh. I remember conversations about how we desired to treat each other, and how we desired to raise our children. These conversations were not just dreams, but had real goals, and had a commitment attached to them. We did not say them just once, but would often remind each other of the conversations and goals. It is hard when you are not living up to the goals set together and your spouse has to remind you of that. Sometimes you feel threatened and angry or hurt because your spouse has to tell you of where you are getting off track. Then there is a remembering of the decisions you made together and the joy when you work together to accomplish them. As the years pass you begin to realize that the choices you made back then are still in your heart today and they have led you to become deeper in love with the person you are sharing it with. So often we want to run from goals, and after all isn't the Christian life all about just following the Holy Spirit and doing what God says when He says it. I think you missed the point, I think many Christians have missed the point of living a Holy Spirit filled life. Today start asking Jesus to reveal to you wise choices with your time, and start setting some holy Spirit inspired goals, you will not be disappointed.
What do you spend your time doing and why?
