Power Up

"My heart is steadfast, O God; I will sing, I will sing praises, even with my soul.

Awake, harp and lyre; I will awaken the dawn!"  Psalm 108:1-2

Welcome this week to power up, a weekly blog to encourage and strengthen your week. If we have encouraged you drop us a note, or if you are in need of prayer or want to know more about a Bible verse or have an idea for future power up's contact us at

What are your thoughts like when you wake up in the morning? People tell me often they are not morning persons, like somehow that gives them a right to not wake up happy. Our verse this week is a great one from the Psalms, it talks about how we can decide how we start the morning off. This week I would like to encourage you to rethink your morning routine, and I know you will see a difference if you do. So often we get up in the morning based on the back up process, I need to be at work a certain time, it takes me this long to get ready and get the kids out of the house so I need to get up at this time. WAIT, I do not see anything in that process that involves my relationship with Jesus Christ? The writer of this Psalm has a different idea that I pray will encourage you this week. He says "I WILL AWAKEN THE DAWN" could that be true? Am I really able to awaken the dawn? Yes when I wake up I can pray, read, think and sing the joy that is prepared for me that day. I set the stage for my approach and reaction to the things this day will bring my way. Amos Herr in 1890 went outside one Sunday morning to try and go to Church, the snow drifts were so high that day he could not make it. He went back into his house and penned the words to this song. "I owe the Lord a morning song of gratitude and praise, for the kind mercy He has shown, in lengthening out my days. He kept me safe another night, I see another day, now may His Spirit, as the light, direct me in His way." I encourage you today no matter what you are going through, power through your day with the Holy Spirit as your guide. I have faith that you can do that by powering up your day with Jesus Christ before anything else you do. We are praying for you.

If we have encouraged you through these weekly power ups' will you let us know at, and consider helping us continue to power up others with the love of Jesus. Visit for your tax free donations and may God bless you richly
